UNHCR Team Visits the Activities Implemented by YARD in (Al-Hazm - Al-Ghail - Al-Maslub Districts), Al-Jawf Gov
Objective of the visit: Supervising the activities of shelter maintenance, transitional shelter, house rehabilitation, as well as construction works of three additional classrooms for Bilal bin Rabah School in Al-Maslub District.
On Monday and Tuesday, January 8th and 9th, 2024, the UNHCR field office team began visiting the shelter maintenance activity in Al Hazm District, where YARD implemented maintenance works for 126 shelters and rehabilitated partially damaged houses in Al Hazm and Al Ghail districts.
The visiting team visited Bilal bin Rabah School, Al-Maslub District where YARD constructed three additional classrooms and two bathrooms. The visiting team got briefed on the work progress and gave some technical instruction for YARD engineers. They also visited the students who were studying on the ground having neither chairs nor desks exposed to various protection risks. They interviewed some teachers that expressed their thanks for this intervention which provided a safe learning environment for children in the area.
The team then moved to Al Ghail District and got briefed on the transitional shelters installed and houses rehabilitated under UNHCR fund. The visiting team checked the quality of the implementation process as per the BoQs developed by YARD engineers. They interviewed some of the beneficiaries who had already rehabilitated their homes and listened to their concerns and challenges.
Returning to Al-Hazm District, the visiting team visited Al-Aqaila area, where UNHCR constructed transitional under YARD technical supervision.
UNHCR expressed their deep sense of thanks and gratitude for YARD exerted efforts through the project implementation period which led to successful achievement of the project goals the main of which is to help IDPs return back to their original location and rebuild their life.
