Rehabilitation of Al Rakham water Project in Khab Wa Ash Sha’af District – Al Jawf Gov.
YARD team conducted an assessment visit to Al Rakham water project so as to assess the current situation of the water source and IDPs settlements after the floods that have been witnessed in Al Jawf gov. during August, 2020. The outcomes of the visit shows that there is a severe shortage of water in Al Fahas IDP camp and the surrounding areas where IDPs and the hosting community suffering bad life conditions having no one to provide them with water.
It is worth noting that the assessed water project was among the public properties that were affected by the floods witnessed in Al Jawf Gov.
In response to the needs of people in Al Rakham area, YARD implemented rehabilitation to the water project during the period March – April, 2021. The rehabilitation works included:
Rehabilitation of the water tank
Doing the required maintenance for the borehole
Supply and instalment of the pumping pipe line
By the rehabilitation work, IDPs accessibility to water become easy in the area of Al Rakham where 150 HHs lives.
The intervention came withing the WASH Emergency Project for IDPs and Affected People in Al Jawf Governorate which is funded by UNICEF.
