United Nation Humanitarian Agencies Pay Exceptional Field Visit to Al-Hazm District in Al-Jawf Governorate
On Thursday 4th of Aug. 2022, and in response to the call of the Supreme Council for Managing and Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA), local authorities and civil society organizations, the humanitarian agencies of the United Nation represented by UNOCHA, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNFPA, and YHF paid an exceptional field visit to Al-Hazm district in Al Jawf governorate to get briefed on the humanitarian situation and the damages caused by the flash flood.
The visiting team was warmly welcomed by SCMCHA secretary general Mr. Ebrahim Al-Hamli, deputy minister of local administration, head of civil defense, the governor of Al Jawf, Al Sheikh Faisal Haidar and many representatives of executive offices in the governorate.
During the visit, a meeting was held with SCMCHA and local authorities in the main office of the governorate in which the attendees discussed the status que and the extent of the damage in the temporary shelter and houses of displaced families caused by the recent strong torrents in all hosting sites.
The governor appreciated the exceptional visit of the UN agencies which aimed at identifying the current humanitarian circumstances requesting all to exert much of their efforts and respond to the needs of flash flood affected families who became homeless having no safe shelter and no life basic supplies to survive.
As a part of the emergency intervention to respond to the serious needs of the affected families, Yemen Al-Khair for Relief and Development Foundation (YARD) has distributed life basic needs to mitigate the suffering of those families including Non-Food Items and constructing some soil protective barriers funded by UNHCR in addition to the provision of RRM kits for those in need funded by UNFPA.
