UNHCR, Sa'adh Field Office Pays Oversight Filed Visit to Al-Jawf Gov
A team from UNCR filed office in Sa'adah governorate paid an exceptional field visit to AL Hazm and AL Khalaq districts in AL Jawf governorate in aim of getting briefed on the implementation process of Quick Impact Projects and shelter maintenance activities that are implemented by Yemen Al Khair for Relief and Development Foundation (YARD). These activities are included within IDPs activities in protection, shelter and CCCM projects implemented by the foundation under the fund of UNHCR.
During the visit, a meeting was held in YARD office headed by Eng. Abdullah Thawaba, the head of the foundation. The meeting discussed the mechanism of shelter activities implementation including rehabilitation of partially damaged houses, shelter maintenance and the mechanism of need assessment for HHs in need for transitional shelter. The attendees also discussed the work progress in the maintenance activities in the IDPs hosting sites. The meeting was concluded by discussing the challenges faced and the suggested solutions through which activities will be successfully implemented.
The visiting team in companionship with the head of the foundation and SCMCHA representatives paid a filed visit to Al Sa'adha and AL Wahadh schools where two additional classrooms are constructed within QIPs activities. The team participated the in the handing over process of the sites to the contractor and then moved to the IDPs hosting sites in AL Mehzam AL Sharkee where YARD constructed protective barriers to protect IDPs from serious damage of flash floods. The visit came in coincidence with the distribution process of cash assistances for flash flood affected families and the visiting team was able to visit some distribution points where they interviewed some BNFs and listened to their concerns.
