UNHCR Team Visit Shelter Activities in Al-Ghayl and Al-Khalq Districts, Al-Jawf Governorate
On February 1st ,2023, the team of UNHCR field office in Sa'adah and Al Jawf Hub represented by Mr. Mustafa Hasan the head of UNHCR office in Sa'adah, Mr. Abdul Hai Farid, protection officer, Mr. Abdullah Al Hadi, filed associate, Mr. Mohamad Al Faghih, senior protection assistant, Eng. Sameer Salah, Shelter and CCCM cluster coordinator, paid an oversight field visit to Al-Khalaq and AL Ghayl districts to get briefed on the implementation of transitional shelter construction in Al-Khalaq district and rehabilitation activity of war partially damaged houses in Al-Ghaly districts. These acclivities were implemented by YARD through IDPs CC activities for 2022 incoordination with SCMCHA and local authorities' office in AL Jawf governorate.
The team started the visit to Al-Khalaq district where YARD constructed 20 Transitional Shelter in AL Kamb hosting site for displaced having no safe shelter to live. During the visit, UNHCR team interviewed some BNFs and listened to their concern and needs in the place of displacement. SCMCHA representative in Al Kahalq district expressed his high appreciation for the efforts exerted from UNHCR side which aim at mitigating the suffering of displaced and war affected population in the district in differnent factors pointing out that there is a need for various humanitarian services mainly in WASH sector. The visiting team then moved to Al-Ghayl district where YARD rehabilitated 209 damaged houses due to the war. The team arrived to the district and visited some houses to get briefed on the final rehabilitation works. The visiting team was welcomed by SCMCHA representative in the district Mr. Nasser Abo Azoor , the head of YARD and IDPs CC manager, YARD technical engineers and other personnel in the district.
All attendees expressed their deep sense of thanks for all services provided by UNHCR in Al Jawf governorate in addition to those efforts of SCMCHA representative and YARD team as such activities are sustainable and facilitate the return of displaced families to their original locations asking for more rehabilitation to WPDHs and provision of livelihood activities.
During the meeting in YARD office in AL Hazm district , UNHCR visiting team expressed their deep sense of thanks for YARD efforts that led to successful implementation of these projects which aimed at supporting IDP families return to their homes and build their life again after displacement. In addition, UNHCR team assured that UNHCR will go ahead rehabilitating the remained WPDHs in AL Ghayl and AL Hazm districts and implement QIPs in the other targeted districts within the intervention of 2023.
