UNHCR Field Team in a Visit to Al-Ghayl district - AL Jawf Governorate

On July 17, 2023, the team of UNHCR field offices from Sa'adah and Al Jawf Hub paid a field visit to Al Ghayl district in AL Jawf governorate in aim of getting briefed on the living situation of displaced settling in Iber Holaif IDPs site.   The visiting team was represented by Mr. Mustafa Hassan, the director of UNHCR field office, Mr. Abdul Hai Farid, the protection officer, Mr. Abdullah Al Hadi, the field associate, Mr. Farhan AL Munabehi, field associate and Mr. Abdullah AL Khademi, safety officer. The visiting team was welcomed by YARD team and SCMCHA office representative in the AL Jawf Governorate.

 

The visiting team together with YARD mobile team visited some displaced families and asked them about the basic needs they are in most need for. In addition, the CBI focal point in UNHCR interviewed some householders that benefitted from CBI assistance during the first half of 2023. UNHCR team talked to YARD mobile team about the possibility of providing the displaced families with transitional shelter as that kind of shelter will protect them from hot weather considering that type of shelter is more resistant to sun, winds, and heavy rains.  The visit ended with a request from UNHCR from YARD mobile team to conduct focus group discussions with some of the displaced families asking them, if possible, to move to other IDP sites where essential services are available including education, health, water etc.

 

By the end of the visit, the UNHCR team thanked YARD's mobile team for their efforts to provide protection assistance for the displaced in their settlements.
