In a significant step towards improving access to clean water in Old Ataq City, Shabwah Governorate, Yemen Al-Khair for Relief and Development Foundation (YARD) completed and handed over a 100-cubic meter elevated water tank, standing 15 meters high, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. This project was funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) and coordinated with local authorities and the General Water Authority in Ataq.
The project aims to provide safe and sustainable water for more than 10,000 residents of the city, including the Ataq Maternity and Children's Hospital, which will benefit directly from the improved water supply, supporting its essential health services. This project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance water infrastructure in the region and support the livelihoods of local communities who have long struggled with water shortages.
The project includes the installation of integrated pipeline connections, along with valves and inspection chambers, to ensure the continuous and sustainable flow of water to various neighborhoods and public facilities. The project was officially handed over to the community committee responsible for its management and operation in the presence of the local authority in the district.
