YARD Launches Food Security Response Project in Shabwa Governorate
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance food security and empower local communities, Yemen Alkhair for Relief and Development (YARD), with funding from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), held an orientation meeting in Shabwah Governorate to launch the Food Security Response Project in Yemen.
The project targets 2,200 vulnerable households in the districts of Usylan, Haban, and Habit, through a comprehensive package of interventions that includes home gardening, nutrition awareness, and the distribution of agricultural inputs and productive tools that strengthen household resilience and food security.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Fahd Al-Dheeb Al-Khalifi, Deputy Governor of Shabwah, Dr. Omar Bahumeid, Director of the Planning Office, Eng. Yasslam Bamueila, Advisor to the Agriculture Office, Eng. Hussein Fadaaq, Deputy Director of Agriculture in Haban District, and Eng. Jamal Bahaj, Executive Director of YARD, along with the project’s field team.
The session focused on implementation modalities, the beneficiary targeting process, and the importance of coordination with local authorities to ensure effective delivery and sustainable results. The attendees emphasized the vital role such projects play in improving livelihoods and achieving long-term food security.
