YARD Recognized Among Asia’s Top 30 Educational Institutions for SDGs 2026
Yemen Al-Khair for Relief and Development Foundation (YARD) is proud to announce its selection as one of the "Top 30 Best Educational Institutions in Asia" for its outstanding contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2026. This prestigious recognition was highlighted during the Global Youth Conference for SDGs, where Eng. Abdullah Naji Thawaba, President of YARD and SDG Ambassador, delivered a keynote address to over 200 youth leaders from 30 countries.
In his speech, Eng. Thawaba emphasized that sustainable development is a profound responsibility requiring proactive action and genuine commitment. He shared the inspirational journey of YARD, which evolved from a vision in 2010 to a reality in 2013, eventually becoming a cornerstone of humanitarian and developmental impact in Yemen.
Addressing the critical challenges facing Yemen—including water scarcity, educational decline, and climate-induced floods—Eng. Thawaba showcased YARD’s strategic initiatives:
- Strengthening education systems and youth economic empowerment.
- Constructing water dams and barriers for sustainable rainwater harvesting.
- Environmental protection, road paving in remote areas, and integrated WASH projects.
- Enhancing community resilience through climate change adaptation and flood risk reduction.
He concluded by reaffirming that sustainable development is a shared global mission. As an SDG Ambassador, he pledged to continue transforming successful global frameworks into practical, local solutions that serve the Yemeni people and pave the way for "Development Without Limits."
