YARD Carries out Maintenance Work in a Number of Camps and IDPs
Within the Camp Coordination and Camp Management Project (CCCM), implemented by YARD, funded by UNHCR, maintenance activities have been started in a number of IDP's camps in Kharab Al-Marashi District - Al-Jawf Governorate (Rownah Mathab camp + Jerm camp + Al-Maqam camp and Al-Aqq) on Saturday 5/9/2020. For achieving that, YARD formed specialists of engineers and technicians for camp maintenance work.
In Al-Maqam and Al-Omeq Camp, YARD inspected and maintained the water network. While Jerm Camp, is considered as one of the camps that suffer from difficulties in obtaining potable water, YARD provided a reservoir and established a water network in order to alleviate the suffering of the displaced.
As for Rona Mathab camp, which in turn is considered one of the camps suffers from rough and pump road due to the floods roads that are worsened by rain fall, YARD took the lead of maintaining and pave the road to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid. It was important to provide this for this camp in particular because the camp inhabitants are at high risk due to the rugged roads.
In addition, YARD did not forget the important role in spreading awareness over and over again. As a result, the project team educated camp populations about:
• How to maintain and clean water points
• Coronavirus prevention
• The importance of social solidarity
• The importance of planting trees in camps
• Avoiding dangerous torrents and keeping away from them
