UNHCR Head of Field Office (Sa’da HUB) and SCMCHA Director of Al-Jawf in a Visit to YARD IDPs CC in Al-Marashi district, Al-Jawf Governorate.
On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, UNHCR Protection Specialist, Ms. Marjorie and the Head of UNHCR Field Office - Sa’da HUB, Mr. Omead Aiyoub, along with the accompanying UNHCR staff, paid a visit to YARD’s IDP CC in Al-Marashi district of Al-Jawf governorate. The visiting team were welcomed by the director of SCMCHA of Al-Jawf, Mr. Khaled Shage’e, the director of Al-Marashi districts, Mr. Adnan Al-Qahm, and the chairman of YARD, Eng. Abdullah Thawabah, with some of notables and dignitaries of Al-Jawf governorate.
During the visit, a meeting was held in the IDPs CC in Al-Marashi district in which previous interventions funded by UNHCR were discussed, pointing out at expanding UNHCR activities to all districts of the governorate. On his part, the director of SCMCHA in Al-Jawf confirmed the importance of including the districts that recently become secured, namely: (Al-Khalq, Al-Hazm, Al-Ghayl and Khab wa ash Sha’af).
Moreover, the Head of UNHCR Field Office - Sa’da HUB, highly praised the positive role and the valuable partnership of the authorities to facilitate reaching beneficiaries. He added that this 2021 more quick impact projects (QiPs) will be provided as such projects have great impact in improving lives of IDPs and vulnerable people in Al-Jawf governorate.
On her part, Mrs. Marjorie discussed protection issues related to the IDPs, from the legal, psychological and social aspects, including strengthening counseling, holding workshops and improving livelihoods.
The meeting was concluded by a couple of video reportages presented by YARD, showing YARD’s Achievements during 2020, few of Success Stories, and the needs of IDPs and other vulnerable groups in Al-Ghayl stricken district.
It is worth noting that after the meeting, the UNHCR Team took a round visit to the various sections of the IDP CC as to learn about the mechanism of work, where they met the heads of departments and employees, as well as some of the beneficiaries present at the time.
Before leaving, the UNHCR Team, represented by Mr. Omead, passed through the well-organized and high-quality humanitarian work provided by the institution. On her part, Mrs. Marjorie expressed her great happiness with this visit, which she described as "very beautiful."
