Stability, and Adaptation Ability Help Affected Communities face Hu-manitarian Crisis
Funded by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Yemen AL Khair for Relief and Development foundation (YARD) launched the distribution activity of livestock and fodder for 33 displaced families headed by vulnerable women in AL Khalaq district, AL Jawf Governorate. The distribution activity was implemented within Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) in the Protection project. The activity was implemented with the attendance of the project field filed officer Mr. Naji Mareg, the representative of AL Khalaq district, Mr. Nasser Abu Zoor and the representative of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources office in the governorate.
YARD has distributed 132 female sheep targeting each vulnerable family with 4 sheep in addition to four kilo grams of salt and 100 kilograms of dry fodder. This activity aimed to enable the vulnerable families access an income source, improve their living and cope with the critical living challenges through this quick impact project.
The implementation of the activity included awareness for the targeted beneficiaries conducted by the project filed officer who talked about the importance of raising livestock and their reproduction in order to improve the income source of the targeted families. The awareness activity included some veterinary instructions through the head of epidemiological surveillance in the agriculture office in the governorate Mr. Yahya AL Shaief.
In the same context, the project field officer has appreciated the efforts of applying the necessary veterinary procedures prior to the implementation of the distribution activity including the quarantining of the livestock, and examining them in the laboratory, under the follow up of the agriculture office in the governorate. He confirmed that the project achieves an important step towards supporting the needy families to be able to face the living challenges in the current crisis. He assured that such impactful activities enhance food security in the region, which contributes to achieving sustainable development for the vulnerable families in the community.
