UNHCR Team Field Visit to AL Hazm and AL Ghayl Districts in AL Jawf Governorate
On August 23 ,2023, the team of UNHCR field office in Sa'adah and Al Jawf Hub paid an oversight field visit to AL Hazm and AL Ghayl districts to get briefed on the technical assessment of WPDHs YARD is going to rehabilitate under UNHCR fund. The visiting team joined Eng. Fayez Harmal, Technical engineer at UNHCR, Sana'a, Eng. Smeer Salah, Shelter and CCCM cluster coordinator, UNHCR Sa'adah office, Mr. Abdulah AL Hadi, field associate at UNHCR Sa'adah office and Farhan AL Munabehi, CBI focal point at UNHCR office, Sa'adah. The visiting team was welcomed by the head of YARD Eng. Abdulla Thawabah and field officer Mr. Naji Marig and SCMCHA representatives in AL Ghayl and Al Hazm districts. The team started the visit to in AL Ghayl district where YARD assessed partially damaged houses to be rehabilitated though cash for work approach. During the visit, UNHCR team verified some technical assessments for some houses and got briefed on their BoQs to make sure that the assessed houses are identical with the donor standard criteria. The team gave instructions to YARD technical team and appreciated their efforts exerted in the field.
The visiting team then moved to AL Hazm district where YARD technical team assessed some partially damaged houses to be rehabilitated within this activity. The team verified the technical data of the assessment process and discussed some assessment issues with YARD technical team. The visiting team thanked YARD for the exerted efforts and their accurate data collected during the assessment process giving some technical instructions accordingly.
After that, the visiting team conducted a meeting with YARD technical team discussing some comments on the shared lists of targeted houses. The technical team answered all the questions directed by UNHCR engineering team who were fully satisfied with YARD assessment process which was conducted as per the project criteria.
UNHCR visiting team expressed their deep sense of thanks for YARD efforts that led to successful implementation of these projects which aimed at supporting IDP families return to their homes and build their life again after displacement. In addition, UNHCR team appreciated the endless exerted efforts of SCMCHA office in AL Jawf governorate that provided all possible support and facilitation for implementing these effective activities.
