Sustainable Solutions to Shelter of Returnee Families Whose Houses Were Partially Damaged Due to Conflict
On Monday, October 31, 2023, Yemen Al -Khair for Relief and Development foundation (YARD) launched the distribution of the first batch of Cash Assistance for Houses Rehabilitation activity in AL Hazm district, AL Jawf governorate targeting 187 BNFs.
The activity is funded by UNHCR in cooperation and coordination with the supreme council for managing and coordinating humanitarian affairs (SCMCHA). The activity is implemented through Self based Approached which aims at enhancing community participation and giving work opportunities for the skilled and unskilled workers in the community. BNFs use the cash assistance to rehabilitate their partially damaged houses as per the BoQs shared by YARD technical engineers within the time specified.
The cash assistance is provided in three installments in each of which BNFs are required to implement the rehabilitation works as mentioned in the BoQs and then YARD technical engineers grant BNFs achieved the rehabilitation works completion certificate at the end of each implementation stage.
BNFs in Al -Ghail and Al -Hazm districts expressed their strong satisfaction for the provided cash assistance which enable them rehabilitate their damaged houses by themselves assuring that this intervention modality is very appropriate to the nature of construction and rehabilitation in their areas.
