On Saturday, 12/2/2023, Yemen Al-Khair Foundation for Relief and Development (YARD) launched distribution activity of sheep and fodder in Al-Khalq district for 20 vulnerable families having no income source to access basic needs. The distribution included 4 female sheep and 100 kilograms of fodder for each BNF. The distribution was conducted in under the fund of UNHCR and in cooperation with SCMCHA office in AL Jawf Governorate.).
Distribution inauguration was attended by the deputy governor for the district humanitarian affairs, district representative, the project’s field officer, and YARD mobile team.
For his part, the deputy governor expressed his sincere thanks to the Humanitarian Affairs Department, UNHCR, and YARD staff appreciating their keenness to focus on selecting income-generating projects that enable vulnerable families mainly women heads of households depend on themselves.
The deputy governor for AL Khalaq district's humanitarian affairs also assured his willing to facilitate the activities implementation and provide all possible support through coordination with all relevant areas.
The distribution activity included veterinary diagnosis, which was confirmed by the veterinary expert to ensure that the provided sheep are in accordance with the specifications. Awareness activities were conducted prior to the distribution activity to identify BNFs how to raise livestock, detect infectious or transmitted diseases, and report any sheep infected to agriculture office.
In the same issue, the beneficiaries expressed their desire to receive such activities that are socially and culturally appropriate to their needs assuring that such activities will contribute to a change in their life and mitigation to their suffering They added that these activities will enable them improve their livings and relief their psychological suffering through their daily work on sheep raising.
It is worth noting that this intervention comes within the activities of the protection project funded by UNHCR which aim to improve livelihoods for vulnerable women heads of households that are extremely poor and need to generate an income source to support their families.
