Under the follow up and supervision of Yemen Al Khair for Relief and Development Foundation, (YARD), UNHCR launched distribution of the first cash installment for shelter maintenance in AL Jawf governorate targeting 126 families living in unsafe shelters. The distribution was launched On Monday, October 31, 2023, through AL Amal bank agents in coordination with SCMCHA in the governorate. BNFs received 80% of the allocated 200$ conditioned for maintaining shelters as per the assessment conducted by YARD engineering teams.
This intervention comes within the activities of the Protection, shelter and CCCM and aims at improving the life conditions of those targeted families living under the shade of unsafe shelters and exposed to various protection risks including harsh weather. The implementation mechanism of this activity is based on self-based approach which let BNFs implement the maintenance needs according to the assessment of YARD engineers.
The maintenance work will be closely monitored through YARD shelter engineer to ensure that first installment spent for the maintenance works in order to issue completion certificate for BNFs completed the works and be able to receive the second installment specified with 20%.
