Funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Yemen Alkhair for Relief and Development Foundation (YARD) implements the Food Security Response Project in Yemen in Shabwah Governorate.
Project Objective:
To empower 2,200 households in the districts of (Haban, Hateeb, and Usylan) in Shabwah Governorate by improving their food security levels and developing their home food production capacities, while promoting healthy nutritional patterns through the provision of specialized agricultural inputs and essential technical skills.
Main Project Components:
- Distribution of Agricultural Inputs: Distribution of diverse vegetable seeds (Tomato, Onion, Hot Pepper, Mallow, and Okra) to all targeted households.
- Technical Training and Awareness:
- Training 2,200 beneficiaries on home gardening management and modern irrigation.
- Training 2,147 women on nutrition-oriented agriculture and food hygiene practices.
- Community Structures: Formation of 34 Community Beneficiary Committees (CBCs) comprising 102 members to ensure local participation and ownership.
