Within the framework of the priorities of the humanitarian response to the needs of the displaced and the affected communities in Al-Jawf governorate, Yemen Al-Khair for Relief and Development, (YARD), is implementing the Emergency Response Project for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, funded by the United Nations Children's Fund, (UNICEF), which targets (Al-Hazm – Al-Khalq – Al-Maslub – Al-Ghayl - Al-Maton - Al-Matammah - Barat Al-Anan - Khab wa Ashaf) districts in Al-Jawf Governorate.
The Project Includes the Following Activities:
- Providing the displaced and affected communities with water supplies through daily water tracking for 87 water points placed in the targeted districts and working on water quality testing in cooperation with NWRA office, Al-Jawf Governorate.
- Installing 150 toilets in camps and IDPs sites in Al-Hazm and Al-Ghail districts, aiming for correct hygiene practices.
- Conducting community awareness on the importance of hygiene, which aims to promote correct hygiene practices through awareness sessions that are carried out at the IDPs' sites and the communities affected by conflict.
- Rehabilitation of water projects and establishment of water treatment units.
- Distributing 9,498 hygiene kits to the IDPs and the affected communities by conflict in the five targeted districts.
